Himosman

A new triathlon event that starts with a parachute jump to raise funds for cancer treatments

Pekka Ruuska is organizing a triathlon called "Himosman" to raise funds (permit number: RA/2024/1099) for cancer treatments for Pekka's brother.

Himosman starts with a parachute jump from a height of one kilometer. After the jump, the journey continues with a 2km open water swim, from where we move to the 110km cycling section. The day culminates with a 21.1km half marathon, finishing at the top of Himosberg.

The Himosman event aims to raise awareness for a fundraiser to raise money for Pekka's brother's cancer treatments.

"My brother was diagnosed with stomach cancer last year. He is a family man and only just over 40 years old. The disease has progressed rapidly and there are plans to start private treatments next. This will cost tens of thousands of euros. The idea for this fundraiser was born," says Pekka Ruuska.

"Sport has always been a way for me to deal with difficult issues. My brother's situation is quite bad and I want to do something about it. I am grateful to my friends Heikki Häkkinen and Olli Horttana, who have helped organize the event and will also take part in the trip. Many other friends and family members are also helping to organize the event," Pekka Ruuska continues.

The event starts on Sunday 4.8. along the Lahti-Jämsä road and ends at Himosberg in Jämsä. Individuals and companies can participate in the collection by bank transfer or MobilePay, with the amount of their choice. The collection opens on 15.7.2024.
